This is a lab course designed to train mass
media majors in the various elements of broadcast journalism. Students will develop competencies in the
process of news gathering, interviewing, writing, recording and editing for
broadcast news programs. This will be
accomplished through a balance of lectures, discussions, textual reading,
demonstrations, actual hands-on experience and student projects.
Policies
and Procedures:
1.
Assigned sections of the text should be read prior to
class discussion.
2.
Attendance will be taken on a daily basis. Absences and tardiness will
negatively affect your grade.
3.
Timely completion of assigned lab projects is essential. Late projects
and assignments will result in a reduced grade.
4.
Examinations will be based on assigned readings, class lectures and discussions. They will be given once, and cannot be made up.
5. Students will be held responsible
for the equipment they use and will sign a form
to this effect each time they check out or use UOG equipment.
6.
Equipment must be returned on
time. Credit will be deducted for each late day.
7.
All written assignments (except those done in class) should be typed.
