Course Number: CS200 College (or sponsoring unit): CAS.

Course Title: Computer Applications & Lab Credit Hours: 3.

Catalog description: The course covers preparation, storage, and processing of data, documents, and illustrations; graphing, manipulating and simple analysis of data, computer-to-computer communications and file transfers; use of UOG network resources; and introduction to computer languages.

Course Content: The following topics will be covered in CS200:

Rationale for the course: This is the basic computer literacy class. All students should have working knowledge of the above topics.

Skills and background required or expected: The student should have passed MA085 – Level II.

Teaching methodologies and anticipated class size: The course meets 4 hours a week for 16 weeks. 20+ students are expected.

Methods of evaluation: Half of the course grade will come from weekly homework assignments. The remaining half of the grade will be based on attendance, one midterm exam and one final exam, used to assess basic mastery of the course material.
